This coupler can be found between the drive motor and gearcase on all Whirlpool built direct-drive washers. This includes brands like Roper, Estate, Kenmore, Kitchenaid, and now Maytag and Amana. The typical symptom will be the washer will fill with water, the motor will run but it will not agitate or spin. Sometimes associated with a loud ratcheting noise, if you tilt the washer back and have a look under the unit, the telltale rubber shavings will usually confirm the failure.
