Used on many Whirlpool built direct drive top load washers, this drain pump is attached to the front of the motor with two spring clips. Common failures will be leaking from the middle of the pump due to debris which may also be accompanied by noise, and the washer not draining due to it being plugged. Remember if there is water in the tub and you remove one of the drain hoses, all that water will be in your lap very quickly.
